Due Diligence: Metis Partners was asked to provide its commercial intellectual property diligence service for a UK clearing bank to support its lending to two high-growth technology clients. The Metis Partners analysis and reports supplemented the bank's internal detailed risk assessment process, providing it with additional and independent insight into the security of and potential future value of the companies' IP.

Innovation Success: Metis Partners, as part of the Innovation for Success consortium, has been awarded the contract to provide a series of new product development workshops for The Scottish Enterprise West, Borders and Dumfries and Galloway regions. Metis with consortium partners, 4cDesign, Ideality, Bright HF and True North Innovation, will deliver an integrated series of interactive workshops looking at the identification of innovative business opportunities, market and market intelligence, innovation project management, funding opportunities and human factor interfaces with the identification and exploitation of IA and IP crossing each of these key areas. Working with Scottish Enterprise innovation practitioners, Metis Partners and the Innovation for Success consortium will assist in the generation of new opportunities and revenue streams for businesses across all sectors, leading to growth and future success.

IP Exploitation: Metis Partners is delighted to be working with Linn Products and helping the company enhance its business model through developing and executing an IP exploitation strategy. Linn music and home cinema systems are hand-built and precision engineered in Scotland, and can be found throughout the world in luxury homes, royal residences, and on board the world’s finest superyachts.

IP Exploitation: Metis Partners negotiated and secured a technology evaluation agreement with a global white goods manufacturer, PBT (IP) Ltd, for PBT’s electronic gas valve (‘EGV’) technology. This will hopefully be the first in a series of deals that PBT is planning to secure, focused on a number of applications for the EGV technology in different international markets.

Project Launch: The Glasgow-based Intellectual Assets Centre has partnered with Metis Partners to launch an exciting new project looking at how Scotland's investment and finance community view the role of key performance and valuation indicators based around intangible assets (IA) in internal risk assessment processes. The six-month project will see representatives from Scottish banks, business angels, venture capitalists, private equity firms and cash flow providers meet on a monthly basis to discuss and establish which IA indicators would be considered to be part of a business model and represent a suitable risk management strategy within a company seeking funding

Corporate Recovery: Metis Partners' innovative service for UK insolvency practitioners has continued to deliver unexpected financial returns for our clients through the sale of intangible assets and intellectual property from insolvent companies. Recent successful deals have involved the sale of brands (including company names, customer databases, UK trade marks and associated design materials) and the provision of Letters of Comfort to insolvency practitioners in relation to the transfer of intangible assets and intellectual property in pre-pack deals to management.
